COMMITTEES
RGU: UNION is run by students, for students in the form of committees. On this page you can find information on what each committee does, minutes from the meetings and how to contact them.
The Union’s Executive Board consists of 8 people who are in charge of the day-to-day running of the Union. The Board meets every two weeks.
The Student Affairs Committee deals with student issues including academic issues, health, advice & wellbeing, equality, etc.
The Union and Societies Committee deals with Society issues and the Union’s commercial services like the Bar, Cafe and Shop.
The Sports Forum consists of a representative from every Sports Club and RGU: SPORT representatives to discuss sport matters.
EXECUTIVE BOARD
The Executive Board are in charge of the week-to-week running of RGU: UNION.
It is made up of the 3 elected sabbatical officers (President, VP Union & Societies, VP Sport), 3 elected executive officers (Undergraduate Officer, Entertainment & Commercial Services Officer, Indoor Sports Officer), the General Manager and an Honourary Treasure (appointed to the Union by the University).
STUDENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE
The Student Affairs Committee (SAC) meets twice every semester.
Its aim is to advise the Executive Board in relation to matters arising in connection with:
- Academic Affairs
- Equity, Diversity & Rights
- Student Welfare, Health & Wellbeing
It consists of the 3 elected sabbatical officers (President, VP Union & Societies, VP Sport), a nominated Executive Officer, 2 officers representing each of the matters of concern to the council and 3 representatives of each University faculty.
UNION & SOCIETIES COMMITTEE
The Union & Societies Committee (USC) meets twice each semester.
Its aim is to advice the Executive Board in relation to matters arising in connection with:
- Societies
- Community Relations
- Communications (including student publications)
- Recreation, Entertainment & Union Services
It is made up of the 3 elected sabbatical officers (President, VP Union & Societies, VP Sport), a nominated Executive Officer and one representative from each of the Union’s societies.
SPORTS FORUM
The Sports Forum also meets twice each semester and advises the Executive Board on all matters relating to sport.
It is made up of the 3 elected sabbatical officers (President, VP Union & Societies, VP Sport), a nominated Executive Officer, one senior representative of RGU:Sport and one representative from each of the Union’s sports clubs.
