Charities Society

RugRag was started in 2003 and since then has gone from strength to strength, the maiden two years of the society saw it win the prestigious "Society of the Year" award at the Blues/Scarlets awards with the president of 2003/4 winning the "Societies Person of the Year" after an event which was organised to raise money for Comic Relief was covered by local and national press.

Due to the increase in the number of societies and the increase in participation of these societies repeating the success of the first two years of the society has proven to be difficult, since the second year the RugRag name has not been added to the society of the year trophy however the individuals who give up their time continue to be rewarded for their work with 3 members this year being awarded with Half Scarlet awards and 2 awarded with Recognition awards, one of which an honourary award to a non-RGU student.

With over £10,000 having been raised over the years for local and national charities RugRag is a society that is not only enjoyable but helps the lives of others who are less fortunate, a claim that no other society can make.
