Match Report 02/11/05 RGU v’s Napier
Well....what can I say? The RGU Netball Girls played an absolute blinder this week against the girls from Napier. With Two wins under our belt we were determined to make it 3 in a row. Annihilation was defiantly in order!!!!
The game was started well with all players making every effort for the ball, really focusing on good passing and keeping the ball in attack. Napier were really giving it their all but were unable to squeeze through our defence. The first quarter was finished with a 14-4 RGU lead, only leaving RGU ready and determined to keep the lead in the second quarter. The Second quarter RGU witnessed some brilliant netball being played with quick accurate passing into the circle and fantastic shooting to edge us onto a cracking second quarter lead finishing on 32-5. With a 27 point lead, moving into the third quarter spirits were high and motivation levels were raring. This gave RGU the chance to change the play a little slow things down and really focus on playing some good quality netball. Napier struggled to keep up, however kept their heads high and focused on pulling together and managed to win back another 8 points leaving the third quarter settled on a 45-13 RGU lead. The final quarter saw RGU’s defence really closing in on Napier’s attack only letting them score a mere 3 goals in that quarter. Again good accurate passing from RGU and good team moral with us working together proved to be the success of our win as the final quarter finished with a spectacular 59-16 win for RGU.
