Presidents & VPs

The Union has a number of elected Student Officers who make up the Executive Board that decides on the running of the Union.

Our 3 Sabbatical Presidents have each taken a year out of their studies to work full time to support students, identify areas for improvement to the student experience and represent student views to the University.  The Sabbatical Presidents have core areas of student life they are responsible for.  Respectively, they cover Communications & Democracy, Education & Welfare, and Sports & Physical Activity, though they are happy to help on any issue they feel able.

Much like the Presidents, our part-time Vice-Presidents are here to help you and make sure that the Union represents you correctly. Unlike the Presidents, they do not take a sabbatical year and instead carry out their roles while continuing their studies.

If you are unhappy with a certain area of the University or feel that something should be changed, then get in touch with the relevant Officer and they will be glad to help!

How did the officers actually become officers?

Student elections take place in march every year. Students who want to boost their CV and gain some great experience run for the Officer position which suits them best. It was your fellow students who elected these Officers last year.

So, whether it is improving the experience for Postgraduate Students, helping develop our website, writing articles for ‘Reform’ magazine or helping out with the number of health or disability issues students face, there will be an Officer who can help with almost any problem!

These Officers are here to help improve your time at University, so make sure you use them. You can find out more about the officers by clicking on the links below or to the right.
