Torcher Parade

RGU: UNION Volunteering

Torcher Parade

The Torcher Parade is the largest student torch-lit parade in Europe! The main aim of the Torcher Parade is to raise as much money as possible for charities around Aberdeen. Aberdeen Students’ Charities Campaign - incorporating students from all three of Aberdeen's higher institutions - is looking for money collectors and stewards that help marshal the event and clear up afterwards.

Any RGU: UNION Society that would like to have a float please contact Lydia Fyall, RugRag President, on rgucharities@hotmail.com, or see below for an application form.

Don't forget to register with RGU: UNION Volunteering.

Over 50 decorated lorries and 2000 students armed with collecting buckets from Aberdeen's three educational establishments take part.

28th April 2007
7.30pm Start

The procession makes its way from Marischal College down Upperkirkgate, Schoolhill, Rosemount Viaduct and Skene Street to Queen’s Cross.  At this halfway point, the torches are lit before continuing down Albyn Place and Union Street back to Broad Street.
