Introduction to Volunteering
Becoming involved in volunteering gives you the opportunity to develop yourself as an individual through gaining professional work experience and invaluable transferable skills which will enhance your CV when seeking employment.
RGUSU main objective is to integrate the student body with the local community through various projects and activities and to enhance their social and extracurricular
development.
Our aim is to offer a diverse range of opportunities for the whole student population of all ages and abilities, which will incorporate all interest groups and cultures.
Becoming a volunteer is a great use of your time while you are studying at RGU and has many benefits, including the following:

- Build your confidence
- Get to know your city and be part of the community

- Make your CV more appealing to employers
- Log volunteering hours on your university record
- Qualify for prizes through the Student Achievement Awards, Denis Law Awards or Saltire Awards

RGUSU works as an avenue for providing internal and external volunteering opportunities for students.
The Internal roles available within RGUSU include, but are not limited too; work within
our Student groups (Nightline, GoGreen and Radar), Society Committees and Welcome Week members.
There are various external opportunities out with the Union which are advertised on our page here. In terms of definitions, Internal Volunteers are those involved in any projects through RGUSU, while External Volunteers are those who come to us looking for a role in a charity, local community organisation, other not-for-profit group or within RGU itself.
