Connected // Virtual Freshers Fayre

WELCOME TO CONNECTED

Hello,

It’s the start of a new semester at RGU and Connected is back! This is your exclusive distance learning student newsletter giving you all the latest updates about student life from around the world. Connected is a new initiative from the students’ union to build a strong community of distance learning students and to provide support and information on opportunities that you can get involved in through our monthly newsletter. We know you get bombarded with all kinds of e-mails about stuff you have no interest in, so hopefully you’ll find Connected more relevant and useful!

I’m delighted to welcome you to the year to come, and remember, no matter how far away you are, your Union is here to represent and support you, so do not hesitate to get in touch!

All the best for the year to come,

Edward Pollock

President (Communication and Democracy)

RGU:UNION VIDEO INDUCTION

Over the past few weeks, your student Presidents Edward, Kerry and Katherine have been welcoming all new students on campus, but even if you aren't on campus, we want to welcome you as well. We've created a video version of our induction to give you all the information you need to know about RGU:Union.

BRAND NEW VIRTUAL FRESHERS FAYRE

One of the biggest events in Freshers to welcome new students to university life is Freshers Fayre. This is a chance for students to sign up to societies, sports clubs, student groups as well as find out about university services and get freebies and commercial deals. A big limitation of the Union is that there is no opportunity for our distance learning community to get this information and experience. As a step to improving this, RGU:Union is pleased to launch our first ever virtual Freshers Fayre!

Head over to our Virtual Fayre and explore all of our different societies, clubs, areas of RGU:Union, and you can even get information about unique deals you can get with your student status and e-mail. No matter where you are in the world there are opportunities you can get involved in!

JOIN THE DISTANCE LEARNING FACEBOOK GROUP

Another reminder, that we have a Distance Learners Facebook group, which all students are welcome to join to communicate and meet other students from around the world. Click here to visit the page

If you are interested in contributing an article to Connected, which goes out once a month, or have suggestions of what you would like to see, just e-mail prescd@rguunion.co.uk
