Student Parliament is a new powerful decision-making forum at the Students’ Union, where students will shape key policies, debate ideas, and directly influence the direction of their SU.

Launching in Autumn/Winter 2026, Student Parliament will bring together representatives from every school at RGU, plus student leaders from societies, groups, networks, sports clubs, alongside student volunteers and champions, and will provide a powerful platform to hear directly from the SU and Student Presidents, hold them to account, review major projects, and vote on proposals that will impact and improve the experience of every student.

With open opportunities for all members to submit ideas and help set the agenda, Student Parliament will offer a meaningful way to drive change, ensuring student voices are heard at the highest levels and playing an important role in shaping the future of the student experience.

Student Parliament Members have many opportunities to contribute to the decision-making process, this may include speaking up during discussions to provide opinions or ask questions; collecting feedback and opinions in advance from fellow students relating to upcoming Student Parliament discussion topics; casting votes during Student Parliament meetings; submitting ideas and proposals to be discussed at Student Parliament meetings; or holding a position on the Student Parliament Organising Sub-committee to help with the planning and smooth-running of Student Parliament.

  • SU Executive Committee (Student Presidents)

  • Society Presidents and/or Committee Members
  • Student Group Presidents and/or Committee Members
  • Student Network Presidents and/or Committee Members
