Appeals

  • When can I submit an academic appeal?
    From the date you receive your final transcript.
     
  • How long do I have to submit an academic appeal?
    10 working days.
     
  • What sort of evidence do I need?
    Not exhaustive but could include: medical letters, hospital paperwork, emails, legal letters.

Student Conduct

  • I have been accused of misconduct, what do I do?
    You could book an appointment with us to discuss this with our team or we have information on our website that talks you through the process here.
     
  • I have been given a notification of poor academic practice and I don’t know if I should accept it.

  • I have been accused of false authorship with unauthorised use of artificial intelligence but I haven’t used ChatGPT, what does this mean for me?
    You will have the opportunity to present your work and how you produced it within an academic misconduct hearing, full details can be found here.
     
  • What will my outcome be?
    There are many different sanctions for both academic and non-academic misconduct hearing and potential sanctions are listed in Academic Regulation A3-2 Student Conduct Procedure.
     
  • I disagree with my misconduct outcome, what do I do?
    All students are entitled to appeal a misconduct decision and you can book an appointment with us for support.

 

Extensions/Deferrals

  • What do I do if I am ill before or during my assessment/exam?
    You can submit a deferral form up to 5 days after your assessment/exam, however you are strongly encouraged to submit one as soon as you can.
     
  • I am struggling with my coursework, what would an extension do?
    You can ask for up to 5 additional days to submit your coursework if you are struggling to make your deadline.

  • How do I make a complaint?
    For all complaints, you can follow the procedures found here.
     
  • I am having issues with meeting my fee deadline, who do I speak to?
    You need to contact student finance and they will advise you on what you need to do.
     
  • I’m facing financial difficulties, what options are available to me?
    The university has several online resources for students with a range of different financial options (Finance & Funding | RGU) and students can reach out to the student finance team through ASKRGU for specific financial enquiries
     
  • What do I do if I have an accommodation issue?
    Whether you are living in halls or have a question about private renting, the RGU Reslife team will be able to help ResLife | Support & Advice Services  | RGU
     
  • I am struggling with my studies and it is affecting my mental health, who do I speak to?
    If you find you are struggling with your mental health and not too sure what the next best steps are, you can contact the counselling and wellbeing team within student life (Counselling & Wellbeing | Support & Advice Services  | RGU) or if you need immediate support you can access support at any time through the new 24/7 Student Support App (24/7 Student Support & App | Support & Advice Services  | RGU)

    You can get involved in any of our societies, groups, networks or sports clubs.
