My priority aim is to ensure longevity of our societies and raise awareness about all the different societies that the student union has to offer. There are societies for culture, faith, academics and hobbies and there is a place for everyone within the student union. I worked alongside the union during the freshers week and alongside helping new and returning students into settling into university life , I also helped encourage students to give societies a try, there is something for everyone.
Mental health is the biggest issue I find students struggle with, the union has so many networks that help to support students mental health such as Nightline and Peer Support, but also cultural and faith societies for students to find their community to lean on. There are also societies based on hobbies and academics, where people can meet like minded people and create their own community. By making socities and networks more known to our students can help them build their support systems.
