Candidate for the position of Ball Lead

RAYMOND OSAKWE

Good day pharmacy society, my name is Raymond Osakwe, and I am a second year MPHARM student Progressing into his third year this fast-approaching 2024/2025 academic year. I’m writing this email to show my interest in becoming the next ball lead. As a person of colour, I must confess the pharmacy course is filled with a significant number of international students around the world. However, a lot of pharmacy student do not show up due to lack of diversity as they feel it is niched down to a particular demographic. I plan on changing this and making it a night all would enjoy irrespective of their race, sexuality, or beliefs.

HOW WOULD I MAKE THE NEXT PHARMACY BALL DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS ONES?

1. Effective marketing and advertisement: As soon as the session begins for next year, I want to make the 2024-2025 pharmacy ball a night to look forward to. As one of the best methods to effectively promote an event is to create a “buzz” around it.

2. Entertainment & Food: As a student with a well rounded academic and social life I have connections with DJ’s who play in popular night clubs around Aberdeen and can get them to play that night at an affordable cost. Having previously worked in a restaurant is to my advantage as I can get them to cater three local dishes – one for the black community, one for the brown community and specifically Scottish on a discount. Other anticipating events such as crowning the best dressed male and female or a beauty pageant, called “MRS PARACETAMOL” will be introduced.

I hope with the suggestions I have made the pharmacy society sees me fit of becoming the next ball lead and giving everyone the night they will remember.
