Candidate for the position of 4th Year Representative

LEAH MCFARLANE and MARTHA PAYNE

Martha Payne

Hello! My name is Martha Payne and I will be running for 4th Year Rep alongside Leah Macfarlane. I have loved my time studying pharmacy at RGU, and I am eager to ensure other students have a positive experience.

Throughout university, I have noticed that most socials are inaccessible to me, as someone who rarely drinks alcohol. I want to introduce more non-alcohol-centred activities, such as game nights, to aid inclusivity. Leah is a friendly and approachable member of our year who is and has been involved in socials such as the pub golf last year. Leah and I can bring two different perspectives together to guarantee all student voices are heard and appreciated.

Furthermore, I want to give a voice to any students raising issues and concerns. I would like to organise drop-in sessions where any feedback can be voiced and listened to without judgement. I can then liaise with staff to identify solutions and resolve any issues raised.

Those who know me personally, know I am well informed of RGU policies. I want to ensure staff are held accountable to university guidance. A key example of this is communicating with staff to make sure assessment feedback is delivered promptly, within 20 working days as outlined in the assessment and feedback policy. Late feedback has been identified as an area of concern by the student body, one of my goals as a rep is to communicate with staff to avoid this happening again.

Leah and I will be a great team of 4th-year reps, committed to organising fun and inclusive social events and providing a point of contact for students to raise any concerns, issues, and suggestions. We are committed to doing everything we can to promote a happy and healthy learning environment for all MPharm students. Thank you!!

Leah McFarlane

Hello, my name is Leah McFarlane, I will be applying to be a 4th year rep alongside Martha Payne.

Martha has made a clear point in how most of the socials are inaccessible to many students. She plans to introduce more non-alcohol-centred activities. I am a friendly and approachable student and I have been involved in many of the socials throughout the year. Martha and I can bring two different ideas together and meet in the middle.

Martha is known for being informed in the RGU policies. I plan to be the point of contact for students to talk to regarding issues. I am a very approachable person and I find it easy to talk to students and members of staff in-case of the need to raise issues. I want to ensure students can have an interactive last year of university full of social activities.

Martha and I will be a great team of 4th-year reps, committed to organising fun and inclusive social events and providing a point of contact for students to raise any concerns, issues, and suggestions. We are committed to doing everything we can to promote a happy and healthy learning environment for all MPharm students. Thank you!!

I am also happy to take on any other additional roles needed in the pharmacy society as I understand the lack of contribution from my year.
