Hi, I’m Ursula Ojiji
ABOUT ME!
I am currently the Student Union President for Communication and Democracy and I am excited to continue my service to students in the same position as President (Communication and Democracy).
Since my election as student president, I have ensured for a clear and transparent union and represented the views and voice of students at various management meetings across the university and nationally.
Throughout my term, I have ensured and got the university to student’s views by:
- Providing the MYRGU Mobile App
- Improved International Students’ representation through the International Students’ Committee in the Union and University
- Hosted the ONE RGU MANY NATIONS event to showcase the diversity of culture in RGU
- Liaised with AUSA and NESCOL to campaign for free/affordable transportation for all students in Aberdeen
- Got the university to commit to improve the social spaces for students through the BRING BACK SOCIAL SPACE/BAR CAMPAIGN
- Got the university to provide affordable and healthy catering options to students across campus
- GUARANTOR SCHEME CAMPAIGN has committed the university to making one available to students
- Ensured for all round participation through increased memberships in societies and sports clubs
- Ensured fairer and transparent representation of students in the union and university through Student Voice Forums and Annual General Meetings (AGM).
MANIFESTO B
I am determined to ensure effective and efficient representation, delivery and service to the general student body and so I intend to:
1. IMPROVE THE AGM MOTION SYSTEM
- As I always want to ensure for a fair and transparent Union, I will ensure the progress of AGM motions are visible for students to see and hold s accountable.
2. IMPROVE BUS STOP ACCESS
- I will work with University Estates to improve the bus stop accessibility especially for students with disability, the general student body and everyone on campus.
3. BRING BACK SOCIAL SPACE/BAR CAMPAIGN
- As this is an ongoing project, I want to continue to ensure that we keep up with the progress of the project achieved so far and bring about something more tangible/visible
4. ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
- Work with university on CARBON NET ZERO campus to ensure for a sustainable and eco-friendly environment for the RGU community.
- Work with Estates and Bike Pad to improve and lobby for alternative transport options student to promote a healthy university.
5. IMPROVE SERVICES IN RGU:UNION
- Lobby for adequate training for Union Staff and Sabbatical Officers to be vast in skills in delivering support to students.
6. INCREASE STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
- Ensure for more participation with the Student Media (Radar, RGU:TV, RGU:RADIO) to create more fun, inclusive and engaging content across the campus.
- Work with societies to have a calendar to ensure a timeline of events across the Union.
- Ensure for society productivity upgrade.

I am an interesting and approachable individual with a smile to light up your day and strives to ensure openness and fairness in everything I do. I have a duty to service, and to serve the best interest of every student. As I believe in continuity, I want to continue to work to represent the student voice across the university and nationally.
