EMMANUEL AKERELE

My name is Emmanuel Akerele, an MSc Corporate Communications & Public Affairs student Aberdeen Business School and I’m running to be your Vice-President Community.

The Community is so precious to us, it provides a sense of belonging, as we keep praying and hoping for a favourable atmosphere in our daily lives. However, I have witnessed that more needs to be done and it’s the right time to keep up with our local communities by working closely to achieve our desired goals. To this end, I wish to take the front lead and contest for the role of Vice President Community (VP COMMUNITY) with your vote and support we will be able to actualise the following:

  1. Supporting the Union’s Community Strategy

One of the Union’s Strategic objective is called ‘Your Community’. As a student, we do not only belong to the RGU Community but also with our local communities, starting from Garthdee and around the world. If Elected, I will work closely with the Inch Garth community centre to represent your voice and for the ongoing parking crisis- help seek for a lasting solution

  1. Drive Campaigns that supports Students living

As your VP Community I will support the “Cut the Rent Campaign” and more housing options for students. This will support the Guarantor Scheme already in survey by the Union

  1. Support and Introduce Campaign that promotes inclusivity and participation

Again, if elected, I will work closely the Aberdeen City Council to form a campaign that promotes inclusivity and participation. This could be an Annual event or part of Freshers’ programme each year.
