GABI UZUNOVA

My name is Gabriela Uzunova, a second year Digital Media student, and I am running for the position of ‘Vice President Community’.

Since starting my education at RGU I’ve been involved in multiple aspects of the university life, such as: joining societies, sports teams, being class rep and school ambassador, all these being communities in themselves. I believe these experiences have taught me the meaning of team work and collaboration which is the key to making a community run smoothly. I believe that with this experience and with my personal experience as a manager in convenience stores I would be the perfect candidate for this position as I know how to manage my time, work hard and efficiently and put 100 percent into everything I do.

Sleeping Pods

One of my more ambitious objectives is to create a space for stressed out students or ones that just need a break to have somewhere to go and calm down before going back into their deadlines and hectic schedules. My aim is to fundraise and source funding so that RGU can have sleeping pods in the library where students will be able to go and re-energise when needed. I’ve already looked into this goal and as other universities across the United Kingdom have them, I don’t see a reason that RGU cannot be a university with sleeping pods as well!

Holi event

I want to be able to integrate various cultures within the community of RGU as well by creating events that allow the whole student body to interact and get involved. If I get elected into this position, I will organise these events by working with students to ensure that I do them justice and they are enjoyable for all. An idea I have for a possible event, is for the Indian festival of colour; Holi. Where everyone would be able to attend and join in on the fun of being covered in bright colourful powder on the RGU lawns to music and games.

Stationary collection drive

If elected I would love to set up a stationary collection drive within the university, where students and staff would be able to donate unused stationary such as books, pens and old/new schools bags which we will then be able to send off to third world countries and children in underfunded schools to help aid their education. This will allow us as a community to help better another community of students in the world.

If elected in this position, I believe that my drive and determination will allow me to achieve results and thus better our shared community in the long term for all Robert Gordon students.
