My name is April Cuffy and I’m running for the research student representative on RGU’s Academic Council. Originally from Canada, I’m a first-year research student and a 2017 RGU graduate of the MSc Corporate Communications and Public Affairs. I was the RGU postgraduate student governor (2016-2017) and I have a keen interest in how RGU’s planning and operation directly affects students.
I think it’s important that research students have a knowledgeable person to represent their specific needs at Academic Council. As my PhD research is about political communications, I feel I am well-qualified to be that person. I will actively listen to research students and bring their concerns to Council using appropriate channels. I will be attentive at meetings and responsive to research students’ needs.
My experience includes being a current committee member of the Research Student Association and I am a Creative and Cultural Business research student representative on The Graduate School committee.
It’s important that all students have meaningful input into how their institution operates and I believe I can help facilitate that process by being the research student representative on Academic Council.
