ELIZABETH AMEDOME

What relevant experience, skills and qualities do you have that make you a strong candidate for this elected position?

I possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and take full responsibility for my work. I am equally adept at working independently or as part of a team. Moreover, I am always on the lookout for fresh ideas and strive to implement them in whatever task I undertake.

Priority Aim 1

As an international student faced with several challenges when I first came to the UK, I am excited to run for the position of Vice President of International to share my vision for creating a vibrant, inclusive, and globally-minded school community. My initiatives are aimed at bringing domestic and international students together, encouraging cross-cultural exchange and understanding, and improving support services to empower every student to thrive.

Priority Aim 2

I will also act as a voice for international students and advocate for their interests and concerns within the student government and school administration. I will work closely with relevant stakeholders to address issues related to immigration, feeding, housing, and employment opportunities by organizing educational workshops, seminars, and speaker series on global issues, cross-cultural communication, and international career opportunities.

Priority Aim 3

I will organize cultural fairs, language exchange sessions, and international food festivals to promote cross-cultural interactions and understanding. Additionally, I will work together with Firstbus service to offer the students of RGU at least one free ride per school day to and from school from any Firstbus destination.

What is the biggest issue currently facing RGU students, and how will you work with the rest of the Student Presidents and Vice Presidents to tackle this?

As an international student at RGU, I have identified key challenges that we face while adapting to a new environment, such as transportation, accommodation, and cultural differences. To address these challenges, I propose to work with stakeholders to create a robust platform for student exchange or mentorship with locals. This will not only help us blend in and adapt more easily, but also provide us with an opportunity to learn and grow. I am confident that this initiative will have a positive impact on the international student community at RGU.
