What relevant experience, skills and qualities do you have that make you a strong candidate for this elected position?

I am the current holder of Vice president of societies and I was also a president of Malaysian Bruneian and Singaporean society prior to being Vice president of Societies. I plan to transfer all my skills that I have learnt to be Vice President of societies again this year and to improve on what I did last year.
I want to use my experiences to help and support all societies run successfully.
I have good leadership and communication skill through societies forum, Executive meeting and successfully leading entire society of around 30 people
I am an approachable person this means I can build good report with all society committee throughout the year.
I have visions I want to continue for next year including projects and to helping out with one of the motions.
I have so much experience and skills to fulfill the role of Vice President of Societies

Priority Aim 1

Longevity for Societies - I want as many societies to run as long as they can throughout the years to come. Any new student that come to RGU should have the opportunity to find where they fit in RGU whether that is a cultural or course related society there should always be place for them to go. To achieve this priority first build a good report with all societies from the beginning and support them whenever they need. I would then encourage all societies as soon as possible to find people interested in becoming a committee member for their society.

Priority Aim 2

Increase multiculturalism - I want to continue a project I started with the VP international to create an activity where people can learn different cultures from language to food to clothing. At RGU there are so many walks of life and diverse cultures and I want to highlight them. My plan is to have a monthly event where I invite someone or a group to teach us about their culture I would like to collaborate with cultural societies to achieve this. I want to collaborate with Aramark to make the food so people can experience their cultures food.

Priority Aim 3

Carrying out motion - Help financially struggling students to have access to join societies and sports clubs. I want to help the union to carry out this motion to create a fund that students can use. All student at RGU should be able to experience all opportunities RGU provides. Having this fund would increase members in societies and sport clubs therefore increasing student engagement. As currently there are no candidates for vp sport I would want to help carry out this motion on behalf of sports as well as societies.

What is the biggest issue currently facing RGU students, and how will you work with the rest of the Student Presidents and Vice Presidents to tackle this?

Increase interest in new students to volunteer for bigger roles within societies. Some of our current societies committees are made out of 4th years who plan to graduate and struggle to find new committee due to lack of interest from 1st and 2nd years. I want to increase student engagement in 1st and second year to joins societies and to seek out role to further their skills during their time at RGU. This would also help the longevity of the societies. Plan to have talks to first years to encourage them to seek higher then there studies.
