What relevant experience, skills and qualities do you have that make you a strong candidate for this elected position?

Being a critical problem solver with distinct leadership skills puts me in a better position as a strong candidate for this position. As the course representative for International Business Law, I ensured the wellbeing of students, being their mouthpiece and laison between the class and the course instructor. Implementing same practices as the course representative for Global Governance Law and International Relations, I advocated for practical and intense learning and teaching practices where by dint of objective-achieving vision of this specific course's instructor, a trip to Switzerland and Netherlands is being organized to visit the UN, International Court of Justice and others giving students a practical understanding of what is being taught. As the President of the Academic and Social Council of the PG Law school, I have ensured the inclusivity of students in all educational events on and off campus and smooth running of courses in the law school.

Priority Aim 1

The aim is to bridge the gap between academia and the real business industry. This is priority because students focus on academic works and end up having no practical skillsets developed to become top candidates for roles within the industries of their respective fields of study after graduation. I'm working with TMM Recruitment Company to provide periodic internship and graduate employment slots to students, as I liase with RGU employability department. I am currently leading an employability fair with KPMG where students will be hosted in their premises to have their CVs reviewed and onboarded for a number of roles.

Priority Aim 2

Having students well being and inclusivity at heart, I aim at ensuring and promoting the sound wellbeing of students in aspects of mental health, educational needs and finances. Addressing the issues of financial challenges of students, especially self funded students, I aim to be the chief spokesperson of the students in financial constraints after becoming a board member of RGU. This agenda is to draw up befitting policies to ensure that payment plans for school fees are made flexible, notwithstanding making sure financial obligations towards the school is being accomplished as well.

Priority Aim 3

Educational collaborations, both internal and global is one thing I seek to achieve during my tenure of office when I am voted into power. RGU, the Scottish University of the year (The Times Good University Guide 2021) is well noted for reliable and industry driven courses, especially international modules within its various schools and departments. This calls for collaborations with different educational institutions and industry based organisations where students will be able to have easy placements and exchange programmes to acquire practical knowledge. Being endowed with resources and contacts globally, I seek implement this policy for students through right channels.

What is the biggest issue currently facing RGU students, and how will you work with the rest of the Student Presidents and Vice Presidents to tackle this?

Taking into consideration the just ended Annual General Meeting for students, motions raised from the student populace centered around the visibility on the presence of helpful resources available on campus to students with respect to employment, student inclusivity and wellbeing, funding opportunities and flexible payment plans for school fees. This in turn becomes a responsibility to the entire leadership. To ensure that students have a sound mind to focus on studies, free from financial obligation pressures due to complex payment plans, as a team, strategies would be put before the board to enhance students some flexibility yet meeting their obligations.
