MADELINE TRAVIS

Who am I:

My name is Madeline Travis and I am an international from Canada. I am currently studying my MSc in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, and previously studied the last year of my undergraduate degree here at RGU. Volunteering has been a large part of my life from volunteering with my schools, to working with a non-profit organisation. Part of these volunteering endeavours have been to raise funds for different organisations in both traditional and creative ways to draw in participation and donations from the community. If I am elected to the position of RAG Chair, I will use my passion for volunteering and experience in fundraising to work with the current charities, societies, and student body to continue to grow the community of giving at RGU.

Aim and objectives:

My aim is to build on the current community of giving at RGU by:

1. Increasing the awareness of campaigns being run on campus through social media, and face to face interactions

2. Working with societies and student groups to continue finding new and creative ways to reach out to the community at RGU

3. Introducing new charities to RAG that the students at RGU are passionate about

Experience:

For a role such as RAG Chair, it is important that the person elected is able to remain organised, meet deadlines, and ensure that everyone remains informed as to the actions of RAG. In the past, I was able to gain experience working as a volunteer coordinator for the Canadian International Military Tattoo, focusing on finding ways to reach out to the community to gain awareness, and garner interest in the organisation. As part of my role, I was also responsible for revamping a sponsorship program, through which persons would be able to donate to the tattoo. Through my years in college, and university I have been able to balance deadlines, and meetings, using organisational skills that are necessary for such a role as RAG Chair. If elected to this position I will ensure that I organise meetings, respond to emails and other communications, and organise fundraising campaigns in a timely and organised manner to ensure that there is ample time for students to get involved with RAG.
