My prospective goals, should I be elected to the position of president for sport and physical activity, are as follows: -

• To have larger individual club goals for fundraising, including the addition of anessential charity donation. Further clarification on the difference between fundraising and sponsorship, including a new sponsorship goal for the most popular sports clubs. An agreed upon charity donation (financial or otherwise) would be given to a charity of the committee’s choice.

• To further recognise and reward the achievements of our less populated clubs. If a ‘smaller’ club makes significant strides on previous years, they should be rewardedfor doing so. More mention of the smaller teams in Purple Wednesday andfacilitating for additional training and equipment for up and coming teams.

• To have greater clarity and communication between the union and the students. The sports side of the union runs autonomously, so its governance should be clear to those it represents. This would include the publishing of detailed financial accounts pertaining to the money spent by the union.

• To make all sports more inclusive, by promoting and ensuring increased inclusion and participation for new members. Running ‘give it a go’ and ‘bring a friend’ style training sessions to increase participation (and potentially as an additional fundraiser). Attempting to remove the reluctance of new members joining simply because they don’t know anyone.
