Why you feel you will be a good candidate:

I believe I can make a difference to the way RAG is perceived amongst the students at RGU. I aim to do this by establishing a community based on the concept of giving freely, and to highlight for students the compounding benefits associated with voluntary work and fundraising for charitable causes - it is less about feeling good about oneself for having did one good thing in the past, and more about developing an ongoing mindset which would help ground oneself’s confidence in a society which has quite frankly spun out of control with egocentric values, often leaving us miserable, afraid and not truly understanding where we truly belong. By giving back to the community, you are doing the opposite of taking, you are are creating in other words, and this is powerful because it exercise an integral part from within ourselves which is not often given attention to. This is what will force you to reflect, and to practice gratitude for what you have and where you belong right now, which will help you realise the true value of your community, your tribe. I aim to help students realise this, through organising meaning events, promotions and collaborating with societies across the Union to get students once again excited about giving back to the community.

Aim and Objectives:

1. Collect a strong student centred RAG team and create the “RAG Community” at RGU
2. Raise awareness of RAG throughout the university and increase volunteering on campus
3. Build on previous year’s good work
4. Develop a strong online presence for RAG
5. Unite and inspire societies and sports under RAG

Potential RAG Campaigns/Projects
1. ‘Race 2 [location]’ events via race-nation.com - inspired by Edinburgh University RAG
2. Organise a large fresher’s week event for the start of 1st semester i.e. where societies and sports are encouraged to sign up new members whilst raising money at the same time
3. Organise RAG week around February in semester 2, encouraging societies and sports to get involved in the week with mini challenges etc
