I have been involved in volunteering, not just in school but also outside the school, which gave me the opportunity to work for Cancer Research UK as a volunteer.

Apart from my skills and profession, I have enormous leadership experience that makes me suitable for the Postgraduate Governor’s role. Currently, I am the class representative, representing both the MSc Information Technology and MSc IT Oil and Gas in the School of Computing Science and Digital Media, in this role I have had the opportunity to meet and relate with different students and share some academic views and get feedbacks from them on academic related issues, and the university as a whole.  This role have helped me to gain more experience on how to relate with students and represent them very well on any academic issues and promote the awareness of the university to them.

I will aim at increasing communication between the students’ union and the student body to provide everyone with regular update on what the students’ union is doing to improve the welfare and experience of the students.

I will work closely with the students’ union to set up a mentoring scheme for students. This scheme will help students that need a mentor in their area of specialization to mentor and coach them to encourage future job opportunities.

I will also bring to all students my general understanding of the university and an appreciation of broad social and economic trends as they affect the university.

Lastly, I will work with career and employability service to help improve on student placement and internship program to give students the opportunity to gain work experience and explore their knowledge on their area of specialization, that will exposed them to a real life situations that can be used for their final project.

I am very approachable, confident, respectful, honest, bold and friendly, with great commitment to improving the learning environment of the university and its objectives.

I have what it takes to help maintain constant progress, and make improvement in different areas of student experience. From my experience in RGU and commitment to the university; I have always been involved in various student activities in the university.

As a student rep; I have had the opportunity to be very close to students of the university and get feedbacks about the university, their courses, lectures and life at the university. In addition, I make sure their voices are heard by passing on their feedbacks to the school authority.

Volunteering as a student buddy; this have also given me another opportunity to meet new students and tell them much more about the university, and assist them to settle in well to life in the university and Aberdeen as a whole.

I strongly believe all this positions I have held, have given me full knowledge about student experiences, the university, and how the university operates. Therefore if elected as a postgraduate student governor, I will represent all the students and the university very well with the knowledge of how to get the best help to improve student experience, student learning, and enhanced the growth of the university.

Thank you.
