Candidate for the position of Vice President (Societies)

Hello! My name is Gabriela Uzunova, a second year Digital Media student, and I am running for the position of ‘Vice President Societies’.

Over the past two years I’ve been apart of multiple societies within RGU and sat on the committee of the gaming society. I believe that societies play a huge part of a student’s university experience as they allow you to share your interests, make new friends and even teach you how to be a leader if you’re on a committee. Overall, I believe that societies improve the student experience and that everyone should be able to find at least one where they will feel like they belong; this is why I’m running for the position of Vice President of Societies.

Societies – I would like to encourage and support students to start up new societies that they find interesting and grow the numbers that we have on campus at the minute so that everyone can be involved and have somewhere where they feel like they belong and are understood.

Societies Forum – I would like to boost attendance at the society forum as not all societies attend right now or have interest to and therefore are not heard or well informed about topics that might affect them.

Growth – I would also like to boost the events held by all societies so that each one offers more varied activities to their members which will hopefully keep up the numbers of members for the societies if not grow them. I believe this will keep the interest of new students and persuade them to join more societies and thus make new friends.

If elected in this position, I believe that my past experience and my drive to better RGU’s community will lead to great results for all societies.
