BART GRABSKI

Hey, my name is Bart!

About me

I am doing a second year of BA in Public Relations; I have been a student at RGU since September 2019 and I got involved with the student life from the start. I was helping out doing Freshers Week and after that volunteered for the Student Rep role. Later in October I became Equality Champion, which allowed me to be part of Equality and Diversity group that oversees at the University level good treatment for minority groups to ensure that inequality is reduced, and all students are being treated fairly. In January I volunteered to become a Student Buddy for new incoming Postgraduate students, I helped them settle down and feel home in Aberdeen. I am also a member of the International Committee, which focuses on our big International family at RGU. We are organising events for all students to share their experiences and cultures. I was also employed by the RGU:Union, as a PR Team Member that allowed me to talk to wider community at the University and understand Student Life better.

Why me?

Currently I am working on the Certification in Physical Fitness and Mental Health – Suicide, Violent Behaviour and Substance Abuse. I believe this will help me in the future role of President for Sport and Physical Activity, in order to make more informed choices and learn more about the needs and wants of students.

As a President I would like to;

  • introduce online access to classes for students who would like to start getting involved with Fitness and Sport at home,
  • focus on Mental Health and its importance, especially at the time of uncertainty; it is crucial for students to start practise mindfulness and start doing what is best to reduce anxiety,
  • promote inclusivity in sport and working with minority groups to ensure everyone feels free to join Sports Clubs,
  • help students across campus get active in the ways that suit them.

I hope I can count on your vote and together, we can do a lot of good in the coming months!
