Vote for a new direction! Vote Greg Millar #1
My name is Greg Millar, a final year Communication Design student at the Gray’s school of Art. I've also, been a class rep, Vice-President of Welfare and a student ambassador.
As VP Welfare I achieved success in supporting students in accomodation with Right Your Rent, improving RGU:Union's relationship with Gray's and working towards a new, improved social space. But we can and must go further!
I know how to build upon the union’s successes but, I also know where RGU:Union can and needs to improve.
My aims.
A bar on campus and improved social spaces. Fostering an RGU community. After 2 years of isolation this will reconnect people and welcome new students to campus.
Better union engagement with students and improve the Union’s relationships with RGU schools. A more transparent and welcoming union that tells students how it's working for you. A union that actively listens to students needs.
More visibility and representation for RGU’s schools, networks and societies. Whether it's Gray's or the school of architecture, these groups do amazing work, providing a platform to them would highlight their success and encourage more students to get involved in them.
Make going on campus worthwhile, as we move out of the pandemic. Ensure that students get a fair deal returning to campus by working towards cheaper bus travel, better catering and supporting blended learners, like student parents.
Campaign to end student poverty, supporting students in this cost-of-living crisis. Guarantee RGU owned accommodation is good value for money and work with NUS Scotland to support causes like summer SAAS and fixing student housing.
Make RGU more inclusive and accessible for all. More support for Neurodivergent students, improved accessibility on campus and ensure all students are treated equally and with respect.
More sustainable policies at RGU:Union. Support sustainable policies on campus like cycle rental schemes, incentivise eco-friendly commuting and improve green spaces on campus.
My experience with RGU:Union means I know my policies are achievable and I can begin work on these pledges from day 1.
I'm not running in this election for a line on my CV but, because this new direction will create a union that is dedicated to student’s interests and real progress.
In summary, with the experience, ideas and determination to achieve real change at RGU:Union that will benefit all students: vote Greg Millar #1 for President of Communication and democracy!
Keep up with the campaign!
