What relevant experience, skills and qualities do you have that make you a strong candidate for this elected position?

I currently serve as the Student School Officer for the School of Creative and Cultural Business (CCB)). In my role, I work with class reps to ensure that students concerns are addressed promptly. I organised CCB's first ever CCB Christmas Party and I have a strong record of advocating for students interest and representing student views in faculty and school wide committees that I am member of. This experience has given me the conviction that for students to excel support must be reaching and enduring, no one left behind or excluded and that support must be quick and apt.

Priority Aim 1

Increase Support Services Visibility

Given the financial challenges affecting students, I will strive to increase the awareness of support services such as finance, well-being and counselling, employability, inclusion centre etc. Student awareness of support services is crucial in ensuring that no student feels alone, unsupported and that every student knows where to seek help when needed.

Student’s mental, physical, and sexual health are aspects of student well-being that demands utmost attention. I will work tirelessly to ensure that support services are accessible and responsive to the needs of our diverse student body, whether they are studying on campus or online.

Priority Aim 2

Advocate for Inclusive Learning Environment

I will advocate for alternative assessment requirements for neurodivergent students and advocate that new technology and other resources are adapted to meet needs oof all students When it comes to student support, I believe that it's the little things that matter, that's why I am committed to advocating for all students regardless of their background or learning path. I will work to ensure that every student receives the support necessary to excel in their studies, meeting the quotas and expectations of every assessment with confidence.

Priority Aim 3

Student's voice

Every student deserves to be heard, and I am committed to ensuring that student concerns are addressed promptly and effectively. Rapid and apt support will be the cornerstone of my approach, ensuring that every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

I will work closely with university management, other union leaders, student representatives, student groups, networks and societies to promote student-led initiatives that recognize and celebrate the uniqueness of every student. Together, we will celebrate the rich diversity of our student body and ensure that every student feels represented and respected.

What is the biggest issue currently facing RGU students, and how will you work with the rest of the Student Presidents and Vice Presidents to tackle this?

We are currently in the middle oof a cost of living crisis and many students are feeling the crunch it. I will work with other student union officers to develop initiates that provides relief for students, gather feedback to discover most reoccurring themes and advocate for these interest and views in school wide committees. It is pertinent that elected student officers are proactive in providing some relief for students in this time.
