Multi-disciplinary project with Design, Fashion and Textile students from Gray's School of Art

We had our first academic project of the year with Gray’s School of Art, in the form of a Multi-disciplinary project looking at sustainability. We were so impressed with all the amazing ideas the students had; from a new currency that rewards recycling to a grow your own herbs shelving unit! We were also honoured to have Kate Morris and Hilal Bugali Watson present and judge the students work.

Our Projects This Year

BIKE PAD

Bike Pad is RGU Go Green’s new Community Bike Workshop right here on campus. If you’ve got a problem with your bike but don’t have the tools or know-how to fix it yourself, bring it along to one of our free workshop sessions! We can teach you how to do it yourself and give you the right tools plus a space to get messy. Open Monday 13:00 - 16:00, Tuesday 10:30 - 13:30, Thursday 15:00 - 18:00, Friday 11:00 - 14:00 and there will be taught workshop every second week on a Wednesday 13:00 - 16:00.

KAIM CO-OP

The Kaim Co-op is RGU Go Green’s new creative and social hub. We have a fashion, textile and household swap shop (or rather a free shop) right here on campus, where you will be able to donate and take useful items. We will also be running a series of workshops teaching new skills, developing new ideas and helping build the concept of repair, reuse and up cycling into our student community. Open Monday - Tuesday 12:00 - 15:00, Wednesday  10:00 - 13:00 and Thursday - Friday 13:00 - 16:00

VEG BAG PLUS

Veg Bag Plus is a fortnightly scheme that brings fresh, organic and locally sourced vegetables to you on campus. You can choose between the large (£6.00) bags that typically contain five different seasonable items of fruit and veg, and a small (£3.00) bag that contains less quantity of the same items. The more people that sign up for the scheme the greater the choice of items available. The co-op is growing every year and the bags will get bigger, and better, with your contribution. We are also very happy to offer our new delivery service to RGU Halls.  First order deadline is next Tuesday 10th of October - so if you're interested drop into the Union to sign up!

That's all for now...

But keep an eye out on our social media pages for more info and to keep up to date with what's going on! All the best from the Go Green team.
