After four years of closure, Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museum re-opened its doors to the public on 2nd November. The building was closed for a £34.6 million refurbishment which restored and modernised the grade A-listed building with the introduction of a second-level installment to increase the spaces for displays.

The hundreds of people coming through the front doors were greeted by musical entertainment which made great use of the acoustics. The Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museum aims to be the city's most inspiring, accessible and welcoming public building, there for all to enjoy, for generations to come. They also describe the gallery and museum as an ‘architecturally exciting visitor destination which blends the historic with the contemporary’.

The Art Gallery was founded in 1885, thanks to its patrons at the time. The building also features a new Learning Space and a rooftop café. Visitors of all ages can enjoy enhanced programmeof exhibitions and events.
