Earlier this year our screens were graced with the cutest character in history- The Child (A.K.A “Baby Yoda”)!
“Baby Yoda” does, of course, come from the series, ‘The Mandalorian’. Described as being a ‘Space Western’, it is a spin-off from the Star Wars movies and portrays the narrative of, “A lone gunfighter (as he) makes his way through the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic’. Whilst hired to find and capture “Baby Yoda” for a remnant of the fallen Galactic Empire, he realises that their plan is to destroy The Child. After this, he kidnaps “Baby Yoda” and tries to protect him from the Imperials. However, there is a theme of identity as Mandolarians are not supposed to feel emotions, but rather be fearless warriors.
Within the Star Wars franchise timeline, the film takes place, “after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.”
The Mandalorian has been a joy for fans, both old and new. One fan stating, “I saw it whilst flicking through Disney+. I had never seen a Star Wars film before, but after watching the series I made sure to binge-watch the films too!”
The Mandolarian was praised highly by the critics too, with the series winning various awards. This includes The Emmys of, “Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score)” and “Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series (Half-Hour)”.
Fans do not have long to wait to get their next fix of this award-winning tv show, with the next season coming out on the 30th of October to Disney+. The season continues the narrative “of a lone bounty hunter (Pedro Pascal) and his Yoda-like companion, the Child, as they seek the latter's "own kind" while keeping one step ahead of the villainous Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito).”
With productions of many series and films having been delayed due to the covid-19 restrictions, fans are extremely happy that they will still get to enjoy “The Mandalorian”. This is because the crew finished filming in March, and were then able to sort the post-production safely whilst obeying the lockdown restrictions.
We are all very excited for the new season, but most of all for the new “Baby Yoda” memes. In the meantime be sure to catch up with the first series and the Star Wars films on Disney+.
