Our club was established in 2010 and since then has gradually grown to what it is now with around 20 active members. The club is predominantly made up of mountain bikers opposed to road/track cyclists or BMX riders and we all regularly meet for casual rides together with the odd race against Aberdeen University's club. Most of these meets are situated around aberdeen, but we do have the odd trip away and the for the last few years a group have headed over to France for a week in the alps.
Each year we travel to the annual BUCS event which changes venue yearly to destinations all around Britain there have been previous trips to Wales and England. The club travels down to the race in rented vehicles and camp at the venue. The event consists of a practice day on the track followed by the race day where a qualifying run takes place allowing for the top 80 competitors to race in the final.
Last year we teamed up with RGU go-green to assist them with their bike hire scheme. This involves us running the hire and maintaining the bikes fortnightly. All profits from this scheme go towards our clubs fundraising and is transferred to RGU sport on behalf of the club. We are continuing to work with RGU go-green this year in order to help with the fundraising of our club.
