Energy price increase set for the UK

Consumer regulator Ofgem has announced that the price cap on energy will increase on 1 April 2021 due to rising wholesale costs and growth in demand.

This means that a typical household on a default energy tariff could expect a bill increase of £96 per year.

This could affect around 11 million homes in England, Wales, and Scotland (Northern Ireland sets its own cap).

The cap for prepayment meter customers will increase by £87 per year, affecting around 4 million households.

Indefinite Bus Strikes to Continue in Aberdeen

Unite has announced that First Bus drivers in Aberdeen will continue strikes in protest against the new contracts being offered by First. The current strike action ends tomorrow, with an indefinite strike beginning on Friday 6th April.

RGU Responds to Escalated Bus Strike Action

Bus drivers in Aberdeen have voted to continue the ongoing strikes by another 4 weeks beginning April 6th. RGU has also announced that First Bus will double bus services for the University between 8-10am and 3-5pm.
